Charter Review Committee - 2021

The City Charter requires the Mayor to appoint a Charter Review Committee in calendar years ending in 1.  The Charter Review Committee is charged with completing a comprehensive review of the City Charter and presenting recommendations that are designed to improve the operations of city government.  

Charter Sec. 8.09. Periodic Charter Review

In calendar years ending in 1, the Mayor shall appoint a charter review committee composed of seven members who shall be residents of the city and who the Mayor determines to have a background in or understanding of city government and its operations. The committee shall undertake a comprehensive review of this charter and shall recommend to the city council amendments to the charter designed to improve the operations of city government, such recommendations to be made no later than the date established by the Mayor at the time the committee is established.

2021 Schedule

The Committee will meet on the fourth (4th) Wednesday of each month at 5:00 pm.  Meetings will be held via Zoom in March and may move to in-person meetings should that become an option.  The first Committee meeting will be held March 31, 2021 and continue on this schedule through June 2021.

January 2021 – City Council Workshop 

February 2021 – Advertise for and Mayor appoints members

March – June 2021 – Committee Review Process

July 2021 – Issue final report and recommendations to City Council

August 2021 – Hold Public Hearing 

September 2021 – Final wording to City Clerk to order ballots
