LA CA$H is Going Virtual for 2021!
No Face-to-Face Preparation and No Walk-ins
2021 Site Coordinator: Tony Tenneson
IRS tax law certified volunteers are still available to provide free tax preparation and financial check-ups; however, there will be NO in-person appointments NOR walk-ins accepted for 2021. Due to COVID 19 safety precautions, the Coalition has, as have others across the state, "GONE VIRTUAL."
PICK WHICH OPTION WORKS FOR YOU!
"Scan & Go" Virtual Prep
By appointment only, documents will be scanned, given back to the resident, and then will be prepared virtually/e-filed!
What If You Worked in 2019 but Didn't Work Much in 2020 Due to COVID?
This tax season, tax filers will be able to choose whether they want to use either their 2019 or 2020 earned income to calculate the Earned Income Tax Credit on their 2020 income tax returns, thanks to a one-time lookback provision. The lookback will also help financially challenged people qualify for the refundable portion of the Child Tax Credit, which is allowed even if you do not owe any tax. You may pick the year that would generate a bigger tax break. If thought to be beneficial for you, please provide a copy of your 2019 tax return along with all of your current year tax documents to allow for the most accurate 2020 tax return.
Hard Copies of Forms
The Lewiston Public Library has free print copies of the federal form that can be given to members of the public. Interested individuals should contact firstname.lastname@example.org or call 513-3135 to arrange for pickup at the Library doors. In addition, although the State of Maine no longer sends forms to libraries, the Lewiston Library can print the state forms (or other tax forms) at the normal Library printing fee ($0.20 per page). Please email or call with any questions.
